HOW ‘1866’ EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL CAME INTO BEING

In the heart of the Mediterranean, Sicily stands as an island wrapped in a veil of mystery and contradiction, where centuries intertwine like the threads of a complex work of embroidery. This land has always been a crossroads of cultures that have left an indelible mark. In this glimpse of paradise where every stone has a story to tell, our story unfolds, the tale of Casa Natìa and our foundation stone.
A few years after the unification of Italy, in the Val Di Noto, a few kilometres from the sea, our ancestors began the construction of their home. Nestled among ancient olive and carob trees, this structure bear witness to bygone eras and safeguards stories passed down from generation to generation.
The 2016 renovation brought to light a hidden treasure: a stone engraved with the date 1866, the year of its construction. Casa Natìa, as we lovingly call it, is not just an old house but our home. In every stone, in every corner, one breathes the essence of those who have contributed to shaping the destiny of this island, a place that transcends the mere concept of a residence, where the past seamlessly melds with the present.
Thus, from the olive groves surrounding Casa Natìa the “1866” extra virgin olive oil was born. It is a tribute to our island, to this story and to our ancestors. ‘1866’ captures the vibrant colours, enticing scents and rich flavours of our island.
